What follows is a trip report of a recent birding trip cut short by unforseen circumstances. I had planned on staying a couple of more days in the area, but as I was heading from Santa Rosa to the La Trinidad Mine I was held up by two banditos with rifles. Unfortunately they took my binoculars and other birding equipment. The good news is they did not harm me in any way, left me with my vehicle, camping equipment and enough money (they didn't find it all.) to get back to the states. The equipment was covered by insurance for the most part so I should come out this not to bad. The state police have a good description of the banditos and they should be in custody by now. However do not go to the Santa Rosa, Sonora area until I can confirm that they do have the bandits. Further details are available for those planning a trip to this area upon request.
