MEXICO:
TAMAULIPAS (EL CIELO) & NUEVO LEÓN (GALEANA)

21 - 24 June 1999

by Michael Delesantro

From the 21st to the 24th of June I birded in a loop from South Texas to El Cielo, across the mountains to Jaumave, then up the range to Galeana, N.L. and back.  We visited a variety of habitats: lowland forest, cloud forest, oak-bromeliad forest, pine forest, and desert.  We were exploring for future trips and didn't spend as much time as we would have liked birding, but still compiled the following list.  The weather was perfect in the mountains, maybe a little too cool!  If you want to beat the heat in the summer, the mountains of Mexico are a great place to do it.
